About privacy

We strive for making our internet a safer place for our coming generations. Since the GDPR became enforceable as a regulation in Europe 2018, I, Jorge, have been helping governmental agencies and companies to transition to ethical web analytics tools such as Matomo, that doesn’t compromise on privacy. I have project managed some of the biggest Matomo installations in Europe and I have a broad network of Matomo experts in Europe. I care for our kids who grow up and copying our habits and since I’ve leaned about cookies I have observed web user behavior to accept infringement of their privacy as something normal. We need to educate and change our habits. I will go into detail about how our behavior is being compromised in a blog series, but let me just say one thing right now. The technology used to profile our behaviors by big corporate and governments is beyond our understanding and still being actively improved and perfected.

What is the future going to look like

In the US the state of California was first to introduce a GDPR like legislation called the California Consumer Privacy Act(CCPA) in 2020, with an extension that will take effect in 2023, called the California Privacy Rights Act(CPRA). Two more states, Virginia and Colorado are following this example with Virginia Consumer Data Protection Act(VCDPA) and Colorado Privacy Act(CPA), both taking effect in January 1st, 2023. Turkey and China have enforced similar laws. We are in the leap of a new digital era. Ethical web analysis and data integrity is spreading amongst digital users and it is only going to grow stronger.

Vision and goal

My vision is to help companies and governments all over the world to use tools such as Matomo so that we don’t teach our kids to sell their privacy for ads. Matomo is a great tool, but my goal is to build something that is even better and more robust, a new web analytics of the future.
